"Build me a son, oh Lord, who will be strong enough to know when he is weak and brave enough to face himself when he is afraid, one who will be proud and unbending in honest defeat, and humble and gentle in victory. Douglas MacArthur" I look at my son and I see that he matured into a man that I look at with pride. This painting of him and one of his sons is a favorite of mine. There is a tenderness here, in the soft colors of the early summer evening and the child who, because I know him, is asking his dad an unending string of questions, breaking the quietness. My life has been blessed with amazing, strong yet tender men... From a Grandfather, a country pastor in Missouri, a father, strong in his faith and love for his children, a stepdad who loved me as much as I did him, to my husband who has loved me, built a life with me and held me up when I needed support.. My son is the product of his heritage and the strength of the men who preceded him. The legacy is his.
